Job Description
The Application Engineer position at Southwestern PTS is a dynamic, self-directed career opportunity that offers diversity and challenges in a fast-paced work environment. Individual will be working primarily with manufacturing facilities promoting our assembly and automation related products. The Application Engineer is responsible for the entire interaction with customer from selling a concept to design, build and installation/integration. The individual must be comfortable presenting and performing interactive demonstrations tailoring value-added solutions to meet the customers’ specific needs to improve productivity, quality, or ergonomics. Travel up to 50%.

Bachelors degree in manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
Selling Skills

Learn and perform needs analysis during meetings with customers and providing them with product-based solutions to meet those needs.
Maximize sales while minimizing costs by presenting the entire spectrum of Southwestern PTS products and services.
Continuously improve the total sales dollars and gross profit margin generated for the territory.
Establish long term, profitable customer relationships by building trust and earning the customer's respect.
Routinely and regularly contact new and established customers.
Follow-up on leads immediately and track with manager.
Create selling opportunities by proactively identifying needs within new and existing accounts.
Perform professional presentations at the management level at both existing and prospective customers.
Learn and implement sales and marketing strategies set forth by company management.
Continuously improve product knowledge by studying catalogs, visiting websites, and watching videos.
Understand viral selling within accounts and work diligently to find appropriate solutions for each contact while visiting on a regular basis.
Understand value-added selling principles and how to present high end technical products to customer while proving ROI.
Ability to multi-task and mentally remember all activities in sales territory.
Engineering Skills
Need to be mechanical, have a high technical aptitude, and be hands-on.
Conceptualize an engineered solution from scratch with peers and manager.
Work with engineers from our suppliers on design to match customer need.
Understand the mechanics and power sources needed for all solutions to operate.
Draw and engineer 3D designs in Fusion 360. Must learn to be proficient.
Build the solution, including electrical, plc, mechanical, assembly, test, and runoff.
Design and 3D print or CNC small parts for robot solutions, including EOAT and fixtures.
Company Culture

Proactively seek out the help of manufacturer’s representatives and sales manager.
Communicate often with inside sales group, sales manager, and manufacturer’s reps.
Respond to questions/requests from customers, vendors, and co-workers immediately.

Administrative Skills
Keep and update company CRM daily.
Weekly updates and follow-up with manager.
Help coordinate all logistics in delivering sold goods or repairs to customers.
Be proficient with Microsoft programs like: Microsoft Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Learn to work in Microsoft TEAMS platform.
Be able to complete follow-up computer work proficiently and in a timely manner.
Demonstrate ability to effectively set travel plans and stay within budget.
