Smart Factory Solutions for Critical Power & AI, Cloud, and Data Infrastructure

Data center infrastructure manufacturing is under increasing pressure, with higher demand and higher quality requirements from end users. We help manufacturers meet these demands through our wide range of solutions and our years of assembly experience.

Solutions

Smart Tools

For data center and critical power manufacturers, smart torque tools enable precise, programmable fastening with real-time data capture for every fastener. This ensures consistent quality, full traceability, and reduced risk of assembly errors in critical components. Smart tools also support process validation and help eliminate variability caused by manual torque methods.

Operator Guidance

Operator guidance systems standardize assembly steps by providing visual, step-by-step instructions at the point of use. This minimizes human error and ensures that complex builds are executed consistently across shifts and operators. For high-mix or detail-sensitive assemblies, it helps maintain quality while improving throughput and repeatability.

Nutrunner Attachments

Nutrunner attachments allow for high precision fastening in hard-to-reach or ergonomically challenging applications. They improve cycle time and consistency while maintaining precise torque and angle control. In critical power and data center infrastructure assemblies, this supports both accessibility and repeatable fastening quality in dense or confined layouts.

Factory Automation

Factory automation integrates robotics, tooling, and material handling to streamline and maintain quality in repetitive or labor-intensive processes. For this industry, it enables scalable production of components like panels, busbars, and assemblies. Automation also improves throughput, safety, and data integration across the production line.

Industry Use Case

We installed this dual-tool setup for a customer assembling power distribution units (PDUs) to improve quality, traceability, and ergonomics. The system features two Desoutter inline fixtured tools mounted on torque reaction arms. These tools deliver high accuracy and capture full torque data for every fastener, enabling complete traceability. The reaction arms reduce operator strain associated with high-torque tightening.

Our Role with Data Center Infrastructure Manufacturing

Southwestern PTS supports manufacturers in the data center and critical power space by helping improve traceability, process control, and consistency at the point of assembly. As infrastructure becomes more complex and production requirements increase, manufacturers are placing greater emphasis on capturing fastening data, standardizing processes, and reducing variation across operators and shifts.

Our solutions focus on enabling controlled assembly environments through smart torque tools, operator guidance systems, and automation technologies. These systems help ensure fastening operations are executed according to defined parameters while also capturing data tied to each operation, supporting both quality assurance and traceability requirements.

By integrating tooling, guidance, and data collection into the assembly process, Southwestern PTS helps manufacturers build greater visibility into how products are assembled, making it easier to maintain consistent quality, troubleshoot issues, and support internal or customer-driven traceability requirements across high-mix production environments.
